Oreo Cookie Brownies

So, I found this recipe on Pinterest and had to try it, since I have a family on "Brownie Lovers".    :)

1 Box Brownie Mix
eggs and oil (as called for on Brownie box)
1/2 c. Ice Cream (I used chocolate marshmellow..recipe called for cookies & cream)
1/3 c. fudge sauce
12 to 15 Oreo cookies

In bowl combine brownie mix, eggs and oil (as called for on brownie box) mix well, add ice cream, fudge sauce.  Pour half the batter into 8 x 8 greased baking dish, layer cookies on top of batter then add remaining batter.  Bake for 40 mins at 325.

They were yummy!!  Next time I will add pictures.  :)

Time to try out this blogging thing again.

Ok.. So blogging has been something I have not been able to wrap my brain around yet.  So here I am, for a second time, going to try and get this thing going.  I think it will be a good way to record random things that interest me, and most likely not anyone else.  However, isn't that the beauty of a blog, get out the information you are interested in and not to worry what others want to hear.  :)  Wish me Luck.  :)

Snow Days

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW    In Georgia.

Yes, it is the truth and I have pictures to prove it.  We did get snow here, lots of it, 6 inches to be exact.   That is a significant amount of snow for this part of Georgia.   In the 12 years we have lived in this part of the country this is the most snow I have seen.

Now, needless to say, the children are extremely excited for this snow event.  Of course the local schools are closed, but since we homeschool we do not have to close for weather.  Ok, Ok.. I was a nice mom and let the kids have a day off.  Actually they have had 2 days off, so far.  We really need to be getting back to their studies, with the holidays and snow days it feels as though we have done very little school in the past month or so.  (I think the homeschooling needs its own post, I will work on that)

It has been a busy couple weeks.  The husband, away on a business trip which was suppose to be for 7 days, turned into a 12 day trip.  Last Wednesday we had wood laminate flooring put into our basement apartment, which is soon my moms apartment.  Since this storm was coming I wanted to get her moved into her new home here.  So with a Suburban,  a Mazda pickup and lots of trips we managed to get all of her necessities here and somewhat organized.  Ok, well we are still working on the organizing part.

Today, since we are snowed in, I was able to get our Christmas tree undecorated, taken down and put away!!  I was soooo ready to get it out of the living room.   The snow days have made me slow down and have a chance to get things done around the house.  Yah!!  I love that!!  I even had time to sit with a hot cup of coffee near the window so I could see the snow and read a book.

So to everyone, enjoy your “Snow Days”!!

Unsweet Tea In Sweet Tea Country

GEORGIA... land of Sweet Tea, Grits, Waffle House, Bulldogs, Yellow Jackets,  Braves, Falcons, Peaches, Pecans, Vidalia Onions, Coca Cola and Southern Hospitality. The North Georgia Mountians have been our home for the past 11 years.  Since I was not born and raised in Georgia I consider myself an Unsweet Tea in a Sweet Tea land.  The Southern Hospitality thrives here, along with the age old question...."Bulldogs or Yellow Jackets????"  I have choosen not to take a side on that particular question.  Aside of that I do feel at home in Georgia.

I have been married to my husband for 21 years.  We have been Homeschooling our children for 10 years.  It has been a blessing most of the time.  My daughter is a senior now, taking courses at a local college.  She is super motivated, by the age of 16 had a contract with a publisher for a book she had written.  The book has since been published, it is the first in a trilogy.  She is passionate about writing.  My Sons are not quite as motivated....with some encouragement they get most of their work done.  :)  However they are passionate about things...my 15 year old loves playing the drums..I know, you are saying "lucky us".  :) My 12 year old is finding a new passion....BB Gun Club.  This is better then the video games he love to play.

So here I am blogging...My Friend Peg of 24 years came for a visit last week and got me started on Blogging.  I am sure I will either be thanking her or cursing her very soon.  Wish Me Luck. :)

Testing, testing, is this thing on?
